The Broadway revival of James Goldman and Stephen Sondheim’s Follies, starring Bernadette Peters and Jan Maxwell, will record an original cast album to be released on the PS Classics label. The recording, produced by PS Classics co-founder Tommy Krasker, will take place on October 3 and 4, with the two-disc record scheduled for a late November release. The Eric Schaeffer-helmed show is currently in previews at the Marquis Theatre, where it will officially open on September 12.
In addition to Peters and Maxwell, Follies features Danny Burstein as Buddy Plummer, Ron Raines as Benjamin Stone, Don Correia as Theodore Whitman, Christian Delcroix as Young Buddy, Rosalind Elias as Heidi Schiller, Jayne Houdyshell as Hattie Walker, Colleen Fitzpatrick as Dee Dee West, Lora Lee Gayer as Young Sally, Michael Hayes as Roscoe, Florence Lacey as Sandra Crane, Mary Beth Peil as Solange LaFitte, David Sabin as Dimitri Weismann, Kirsten Scott as Young Phyllis, Frederick Strother as Max Deems, Nick Verina as Young Ben, Tony nominee Susan Watson as Emily Whitman and Terri White as Stella Deems.
Featuring a book by Goldman and music and lyrics by Sondheim, Follies contains well-known songs including “Broadway Baby,” “I’m Still Here,” “Too Many Mornings,” “Could I Leave You?” and “Losing My Mind.”
